Eastern Tigers Avadesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa will take on Southern Sharks Madras University in a group B match of the Toyota University Cricket Championship (TUCC) at the Jamia Sports Complex in New Delhi on Monday.

The first match of the tournament for both teams, Madras University will enjoy a minor advantage considering that the players have had more exposure than their small-town counterparts from Rewa. In contrast, former international bowler Venkatesh Prasad though had previously said it is this low-profile that may work to APS University's advantage.

The Eastern Tigers impressed former India pacer Prasad who said that the players have talent, enthusiasm and were eager to  give their best. He held a training camp in the lead-up to the tournament and gave important instructions to the players including skipper Naveen Tiwari.

Every bit of those instructions will need to be translated on the pitch, on Monday, as the Southern Sharks have the firepower to overwhelm any opposition.

Madras may have gone down to Jamia Milia Islamia in the Rohinton Baria Trophy quarters - by 8 wickets - but have since been looking at means to overcome the embarrassment.  Under skipper Avaikkarasan Sekar, this team has quality players who have proven their mettle in several preceding matches.
