He's already got a taste of Indian dressing room. When he will lead Mumbai University out in the Toyota University Cricket Championship, Siddhesh Lad will be chasing his biggest dream: to play for Team India.

Siddhesh was called by the Mumbai Cricket Association to assist Team India during the second Test against England at Wankhede Stadium in November last year. "I was among the few from the Mumbai Ranji squad who didn't travel to Hyderabad for the match there. So they called me up to be a reserve fielder and also to carry the drinks," says Lad. "I was very happy to assist the team from the boundary line and it just like a dream come true," Siddhesh added.

"I carried the drinks on every occasion. And on a couple of times, the coach (Fletcher) passed on a few messages to the batsmen through me. I had though shared a dressing-room with Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan during a Ranji game. And wasn't too over-awed here," says Lad.

Cricket runs in his family. Dinesh Lad, his father, is Test batsman Rohit Sharma's coach and the best guide the 21-year-old Siddhesh can ask for. He has been one of the most promising youngsters in Mumbai. He is a right-handed batsman and an off-spinner. Siddhesh has been part of Mumbai's A team and has three consecutive centuries in CK Nayudu Trophy.

Siddhesh now wants to break into the big league and his Mumbai University teammates think that's not far away. "We have seen him blast international bowlers with ease in T20 matches. He will surely play for India one day," said one of them.

The diminutive all-rounder is focused and says: "Well I can't think anything beyond cricket." The Mumbai University captain has a triple century as an Under-19 player under his belt and will be one the blokes to look out for in the Toyota University Cricket Championship.
